Ephesians 6:12-13 [NIV]

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground...

Victory in a battle is determined not only by the ground you take, but also by the ground you keep. It does an army no good to take new territory while losing all the territory behind them. They must be strong on all sides; as mighty in the rear as they are on the front lines. This keeps the enemy from infiltrating the camp. It keeps the territory safe and secures the victory.

I love that this scripture emphasizes putting on the FULL armor of God. We can't simply rely on a piece or two to keep ourselves safe from the arrows of the enemy. Would a warrior enter into battle with only a helmet or a shield and leave the rest of his armor behind?

The enemy is always searching for our weak spots and he finds them when we forget to armor up. I challenge you to search your heart today and seek out the places that aren't fully surrendered to the Word of God. Find those spots that are exposed for the enemy to plant lies. Pray into them; seek out what God says; armor up and take back any territory the enemy has stolen. Secure your victory!
