ACTS 2:17 [NIV]

“In the last days,” God says, I will pour out my Spirit on every kind of people: your sons will prophesy, also your daughters, your young men will see visions, your old men dream dreams. When the time comes, I’ll pour out my Spirit on those who serve me, men and women both, and they’ll prophesy. I’ll set wonders in the sky above and signs on the earth below, Blood and fire and billowing smoke, the sun turning black and the moon blood-red.”

Maybe it was the eclipse, but lately I’ve been infatuated with God’s creativity and completely captivated in wonder. Have you spent any time with kids recently? They don’t need to know the science behind why the sky turned black for two minutes; they just stare with their gaping grins at what the sky can do.

And if there’s anything I want to be, it’s childlike! As it says, He’s “setting wonders in the sky above and signs on the earth below,” and I don’t want to miss those! I want God to trust me with the wonder, I want to see more visions and dream more dreams.  I want to be a little kid who stares at what God can do with a gaping grin that says, “why not?”

Let’s be intentional over the next few days and press into the “why not’s,” let’s look for the wonder, be ready to dream for our family and our city and our world, to prophecy into our friendships and families. Let’s watch what God can do with gaping grins and wide eyes and be ready to cover the earth with all we gain.
