Psalm 16:5-6 (ESV): "The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; You hold my lot.  The [boundary] lines have fallen for me in pleasant places, indeed I have a beautiful inheritance”

16:11 “You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore”.

So often we think of boundaries in a negative context, interpreting them as rules and regulations; limitations that only separate us from what we think would be better for us.  However, in this Psalm, David is telling us the exact opposite about the boundaries that God establishes for our lives, saying that they’ve hedged him into “pleasant places”.  The powerful thing about this phrase “pleasant places” is that it is a single Hebrew word that means ‘pleasures’, the very same word used later in verse 11 where David declares to God “…at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”  So another way to interpret verse 6 would be “the boundary lines around my life hedge me into Your presence, where there is fullness of JOY.”  The boundaries God builds around our lives keep us where HE is.  He doesn’t stifle us or keep us from His best, He keeps us close to Him.  HE is the goal, HE is our “beautiful inheritance”.   How amazing is that about God, that He can take boundary lines, something that in the natural seems like nothing but a limitation, and use it for something that brings a life without limit; “fullness of joy”, true freedom, “pleasures forevermore”.  Let’s choose what David chose, to declare God as our greatest reward, praise Him and thank Him for keeping us close to His presence, and experience fullness of joy in the lot that He has given us.
